8kW Offgrid System | Victron and BYD

This 6kW Victron and BYD off grid system is aimed at offsetting heavy use from items such as air conditioners, electric hot water and other modern appliances.

The Victron MultiPlus and Quattro range of island inverters are suitable for both on and off-grid use and will connect to a range of batteries. They scale in both single and three phase applications and are compatible with a wide range of grid tie inverters such as SMA or Fronius.

Victron makes a range of simple products designed for Australian conditions. With true sine wave output, their inverters are also rated for peak currents at up to twice the rated capacity. All units can be integrated into a software solution using Victron's web portal.

We use Victron for on-grid battery storage and or small to medium off grid applications. They are suitable for connection to LG Chem, BYD or SimpliPhi batteries, as well as older chemistry.

Fronius is a world leading inverter, welding and battery manufacturer that specializes in innovation. While they're not the cheapest unit on the market, a range of packaged features makes them highly intelligent. A Fronius inverter has wireless logging and a programmable smart relay. The relay can be used to switch excess production to items such as electric hot water systems and is far more accurate than a traditional timer-relay combination.

Fronius offers an industry-leading 10-year warranty as standard. Their product range includes cost-effective options for both consumption metering and energy management.

BYD is the largest lithium manufacturer in China and one of the largest manufacturing companies in the world. Their lithium range will expand up to 400kWh making them suitable for large off grid or even commercial applications. BYD is certified for use with Victron inverters which gives us plenty of options to meet even the toughest of conditions.

Trina is one of Australia's most popular solar panels and is installed on the 1.2MW facility at the University of QLD. Trina modules sit at an attractive price point and are well backed by one of China's largest solar panel manufacturers.

This price point range looks for the best of quality versus performance. It has an expected lifespan of ten to fifteen years and offers most features found in higher level systems.
